Bible Time Time
We Came For The Jokes, Stayed For Melchizedek
Scripture study feels different when it’s around a kitchen table with kids, birthday cake crumbs, and a countdown to Christmas. We kick off with our “favorite part of the day,” trade a truly groan-worthy horse joke, and then dive into two rounds of Bible trivia that spark real learning: Abraham’s trip to Egypt during famine, the difference between Ishmael and Isaac, and the curious majesty of Melchizedek, priest of God and king of Salem. Along the way we talk about how God gave us the Bible—through the Holy Spirit inspiring human authors—and why the five-book sweep of the Pentateuch still matters for anyone trying to make sense of the whole story.
We pause for a “verse that hits different” in Revelation 4:11, letting worship recalibrate our pace. From there, we anchor origins in Genesis 1:1, clear up that the promised land was first called Canaan, and recall that Lot was Abraham’s nephew. Then we turn to Psalm 119:11, where we explain why Scripture memory isn’t just a school exercise; it’s a way to store truth for temptation, fear, and doubt. It’s practical discipleship—short, memorable, and built for everyday life.
The finale soars with Romans 8, naming what cannot separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus: not death or life, not angels or rulers, not things present or things to come, not height or depth, nor anything in all creation.
If you love family-friendly Bible learning, kid energy, and clear references you can look up later, this one will hit home.

SPEAKER_04:Hagar.
SPEAKER_02:Hagar.
SPEAKER_04:Hagar.
SPEAKER_02:What was the name of the son born to Abraham and Hagar? Question number three. Who was Melchizedek? Question number three. Who was Melchizedek? Question number four. This one's a little bit more in-depth. Are you ready? How did God give us the Bible? How did God give us the Bible? I'll give you just a minute to think about it and write. SPEAKER_05:That's not ar.
SPEAKER_02:Er is incorrect. No. That's where he was from. Oh. Abraham was from Er. Oh, where did he go in time of famine? Famine. That was a good joke. That was a good joke, though.
SPEAKER_04:Where God told him to go.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, that's definitely where, for sure. But does anyone know the name of the country?
SPEAKER_05:Erba.
SPEAKER_02:Okay.
SPEAKER_05:Erba is uh incorrect. I don't think that's a place at all.
SPEAKER_02:I will give you another hint. Um, at this place, um, this is where God also brought the Israelites out of.
SPEAKER_05:Egypt. Egypt is correct! All right.
unknown:Yay!
SPEAKER_05:All right.
SPEAKER_00:What was the name of the case?
SPEAKER_02:All right, studio audience, thank you. What was the name of the son born to Abraham, Abraham and Hagar? What was the name of the son born to Abraham and Hagar?
SPEAKER_06:Uh Isaac.
SPEAKER_02:Isaac is not correct. That was born to Abraham and Sarah. Ailey, do you have an answer?
SPEAKER_06:Ishmael.
SPEAKER_02:Ishmael is correct. Ishmael is correct. All right. Question number three. Question number three. Who was Melchizedek? Who was Melchizedek? Yes.
SPEAKER_05:He was a person in the Bible.
SPEAKER_02:He was a person in the Bible. Yeah. Wow. Yes, you are seven. Yes, he was a person in the Bible. What was he, like, what was in what was important about him? What was the distinguishing characteristic of him? D of an answer? No? Okay, Ailey.
SPEAKER_06:He was the only other high priest and king other than Jesus.
SPEAKER_02:He was a high priest and king. Yes. Do you know where he was from? What what city he was king of?
SPEAKER_06:Judea.
SPEAKER_02:It was Salem, but I'm still gonna give you one of these. He was the priest of God and the king of Salem. Fantastic job. Alright. Bless you. You got another one in there? Nope. Nope. You're good? Okay. Alright, here we go. This is question number four. How did God give us the Bible? D. How did God give us the Bible?
SPEAKER_04:The disciples and people he called out to.
SPEAKER_02:Okay, yep. That's pretty good. Pretty good answers. Do you have an answer? No answer from you. Ailey, do you have an answer?
SPEAKER_06:Through inspired writers passed around through generations.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, the Holy Spirit inspired men to give them both truth and the words to write. This is actually based on a scripture verse.
SPEAKER_06:Actually, I think I have to discover that. I think Timothy 3.16 or something.
SPEAKER_02:No, that's that one is about the Bible, but no, this is 2 Peter 1. The Holy Spirit inspired holy men, giving them both the truth and the words to write. It's based on 2 Peter 1 19.
SPEAKER_06:Then what's the other reference?
SPEAKER_02:That's uh the the um scripture is God breathed, I believe.
SPEAKER_06:Right. Yeah. What's that reference?
SPEAKER_02:That's uh 2 Peter or 2 Timothy 3.16, I believe.
unknown:Oh.
SPEAKER_02:Alright. What five books of the Bible are called the Pentateuch Demarian?
SPEAKER_04:The first five books, including Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, and Deuteronomy.
SPEAKER_02:That is incredible. That is an incredible job. Alright, that is the end of round one. Between rounds, we like to have a special edition uh segment from Ailey. Are you ready, Ailey?
SPEAKER_00:Because this verse is different.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, this verse hits different. So this is a verse that Ailey has found uh in her Bible reading that just hits different. Ailey, hit us with the verse that hits different.
SPEAKER_06:Okay, so this verse is found in Revelation 4 11, and it's talking about like what the elders are saying to God when they're in heaven, like what the angels are saying, and it says, Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive power and honor and glory. For you created all things, and by your will they existed and were created. So this verse is really cool because like that's what we get to say to God one day in heaven, if we've accepted him as our savior. And like God is worthy of what he has, he's worthy to receive honor, to receive glory, to receive power. And because of him, all things are created, and because he wants them to exist, they exist and they are created.
SPEAKER_02:That's uh that's a powerful statement you just said. Because he wants them to the ex to exist, they exist.
SPEAKER_06:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:That's pretty cool.
SPEAKER_06:It is. I have to cough.
SPEAKER_02:You have to cough? Alright, you may proceed. That was it. Alright.
SPEAKER_00:This has been ready.
SPEAKER_02:Are you ready for round two? Alright, here we go. Round two. This is a this is a another deep one. It's based on the answer is based on a scripture reference. Okay. Where did the universe come from? Where did the universe come from? Question number two. What was the original name of the country God promised to Abraham? What was the original name of the country that God promised to Abraham?
SPEAKER_04:What was this what the second name?
SPEAKER_02:Um, Israel.
SPEAKER_04:Man, that's what I was gonna talk about.
SPEAKER_02:The original name though was what? Alright, question number three. Who was Abraham's nephew? Who was Abraham's nephew? Question number four. Again, this is based on a scripture reference. The dogs are barking. This is based on a scripture reference. You ready? Why is it important to memorize Bible verses? Why is it important to memorize Bible verses? And question number five, probably the hardest question we've had. In Romans chapter eight, Paul lists things, some things that cannot separate us from God's love. What are the things that Paul lists that cannot separate us from God's love in Romans chapter 8? No, you cannot use the Bible over there. Ailey, I see you. What are things that Paul lists in Romans chapter 8 that cannot separate us from the love of God? I'll give you a hit. He says things like neither this nor this, nor this, nor this. It's one of my favorites. And you don't have to get them all. Just give me a couple of them and I'll count it. Alright? Here we go. Are we ready for the answers?
SPEAKER_00:Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah. Alright, here we go. Here are the answers to round two. Question number one. Where did the universe come from? Say heaven.
SPEAKER_05:God.
SPEAKER_02:God. Do you have a scripture reference to back that up?
unknown:Genesis 1 1.
SPEAKER_02:What?
SPEAKER_05:Genesis 1 1.
SPEAKER_02:Genesis 1 1 is correct. What does that verse say?
SPEAKER_05:In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
SPEAKER_02:Very good. Fantastic job. Alright. What was the original name of the country that God promised to Abraham? Ailey. Demarion? Ailey. Say heaven. One of you, answer in three, two, one.
SPEAKER_05:Something. No yes.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, there was something. But what was it? Demarian, do you have an answer? No. Ailey, do you have an answer?
SPEAKER_06:I wrote something down, but it's a good one.
SPEAKER_02:What did you write?
SPEAKER_06:I wrote Judah. Question mark. Question mark. Question mark. Question mark. Question mark.
SPEAKER_02:That's a lot. That's a lot of question marks that you put on the paper there. Another one?
SPEAKER_06:Question mark. My question marks are very different.
SPEAKER_02:Upside down exclamation point? She turned just for all of you not watching. Which is everyone? Which is everyone? She turned her paper upside down to draw the exclamation point.
SPEAKER_03:To draw the eye.
SPEAKER_02:Yeah, the upside down. Yeah, that's true. You could have just drawn an eye. Alright. The answer to this question, you're gonna go, oh my word, why didn't I get this? Is Canaan Canaan?
SPEAKER_06:I wasn't gonna get that. You weren't gonna get that? Oh, sorry. I deserve that. So did all you.
SPEAKER_02:Who was Abraham's nephew?
SPEAKER_04:Oh, I know a lot about him.
SPEAKER_02:Tamarian. Tamarian, you have it written down and you have the right answer.
SPEAKER_04:Lot.
SPEAKER_02:Oh, wait, no, it's the wrong one.
SPEAKER_06:How dare you? But you have to do that twice to counteract the other one.
SPEAKER_02:Sorry, there you go. Yes, slot.
SPEAKER_04:Yeah. Can I do number three and five? I'm four and five.
SPEAKER_02:Four and five and three? No, we gotta get to heaven some some some over here.
SPEAKER_04:I want to do five though. Because I had a test on this.
SPEAKER_02:Did you? Okay. All right, number four. Uh, why is it important to memorize Bible verses to heaven? What did you write?
SPEAKER_06:Um to help you through life. Okay. We literally say this every single day. We don't. No, we don't. Not anymore. We did it in elementary. We said it every single day.
SPEAKER_02:Okay. Ailey, what did you write?
SPEAKER_06:Um, to hide God's words.
SPEAKER_02:Whoa. I think heaven's not done.
SPEAKER_05:I don't think so. It helps you live by truth. Yeah! It helps you live. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02:It helps you live.
SPEAKER_06:If you have the word.
SPEAKER_02:Okay. Ailey, what did you say?
SPEAKER_06:To hide God's word in our hearts that we might not sin against him.
SPEAKER_02:Do you know where that's found?
SPEAKER_06:In some psalm.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, Psalm 119.11.
SPEAKER_06:That's what I said, Psalm 119.11.
SPEAKER_02:The dogs are going crazy today.
SPEAKER_06:That's what Psalm whatever means.
SPEAKER_02:11911 says Psalm 1191 says, I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. And that is why, yeah, not me, but God. That is why we hi is important to memorize Bible verses. Right, that's what that's what I said. That's what you said? Let's give him a word. Word for word. Oh, wait, no, wrong for words.
SPEAKER_04:No, no, she did not say that.
SPEAKER_02:I can't seem to get the right button to do it. Okay. Oh, sorry. I didn't actually get it. You did not, I know. Okay. Question number five. What things, according to Romans chapter 8, cannot separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus, Demarian.
SPEAKER_04:Nor height, nor debt, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things to come, nor anything in all of creation. Woo!
SPEAKER_02:The number is incredible.
SPEAKER_04:Good church.
SPEAKER_06:Good church there.
SPEAKER_02:That was incredible. What did you have, Ailey?
SPEAKER_06:Um, I think I only got one of those. I was combining it with another verse which says we do not wrestle against rulers and authorities. But um, I got authorities.
SPEAKER_02:Alright, yes. Did you have anything, Seven? D, that was incredible. Way to go. All right, that is the end of round two. Two.
unknown:Uh.
SPEAKER_04:Is this goodbye?
SPEAKER_02:Is it?
SPEAKER_04:Na na na na na na na.
SPEAKER_03:Hey, hey, hey. Goodbye.
SPEAKER_05:From Bible Times are.
